About Dr Sujay Chandran

Dr Sujay Chandran is a London-based Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Cromwell Hospital, with NHS consultant appointments at Kingston Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital, London. He has extensive experience in general and interventional cardiology, having previously served as a consultant for five years at Worthing Hospital and Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Dr Chandran graduated in medicine from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 2006, where he also completed an intercalated BSc for original genetics research. He went on to complete his specialist cardiology training across leading London and South Coast hospitals, earning an MD (Res) for his research into the molecular mechanisms underlying acute heart attacks. He later undertook advanced subspecialty training in coronary intervention at Royal Sussex County and St Thomas’ Hospitals.

Following his UK training, Dr Chandran was awarded a prestigious international fellowship at McMaster University, Canada, where he developed expertise in the management of complex coronary artery disease — including chronic total occlusions — and percutaneous mitral-valve interventions (MitraClip).

In his current London-based practice, Dr Chandran manages the full spectrum of adult cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias, chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness, and syncope. He performs a comprehensive range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, from ECG, echocardiography, cardiac CT and MRI, to coronary angiography and complex percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), including chronic total occlusion revascularisation, bifurcation stenting, rotational atherectomy, and intracoronary imaging (OCT/IVUS). To date, he has performed over 2000 PCIs.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Chandran is actively engaged in cardiovascular research and education, collaborating with leading academic centres in the UK and internationally, including McMaster University. He has presented at national and international conferences, published in peer-reviewed journals, and contributed to book chapters. In addition, he serves as a clinical and educational supervisor for junior doctors and provides educational talks to colleagues and referring GPs.
